Bad Numbers

At the beginning of November I decided that it was time to get more serious about working out so spent big bucks(for me) and did Intensive Group Training with Nikki. It totally kicked my butt. Each Friday mourning I thought it would be easier and in five minutes I would think she is going to kill me. By then end of December I was waiting on results from labs and Nikki's class had only killed a measly 3 pounds off my frame. While I do think I gained some muscle I was very disappointed at the weight loss. In the meantime I was also doing blood work and some general check up stuff with my MD.
Good news, I don't have Mono or thyroid problems. Bad news I'm borderline Diabetic (insulin resistant) and there is plak on my arteries and fat around the liver. In short I"M FAT.
So what am I to do but take real action. This is to include some accountability. I plan on using my blog to record my transformation back to healthy. So Honest numbers
Weight 233
Waist 43
Hips 50

I purposely chose the small pictures. So in order to change I am trying the weight watchers program and I made a friend from my IGT class, we are work out buddies. This past week has been the first week were I worked out 4 days and have been eating better. Good news the scale moved, not much but it's not going up so that's a good move. Wish me luck

ditto to the first comment, you ARE brave and very inspirational by doing this! Just a warning, as soon as I would start losing the "baby weight" I would get pregnant again, so BEWARE!)

You can do it! Though I would recommend an online calorie/fitness calculator like myfitnesspal.com. I use it everyday, and it's free. Weight Watchers is good, but they have their own system for calculating points, and I personally prefer to know exactly how much I'm eating and how much I should be losing/gaining. It holds me more accountable than weight watchers ever did. Plus you can friend people on it like facebook and follow each others progress and support each other. If Weight Watchers works for you, great, keep at it. But if not, check out myfitnesspal.com.

Logging your food and exercise is by far the best thing you can do to lose weight and keep it off. Weight Watchers has you do it too. You just use their system which calculates calories, fat, fiber, and protein all into a specific point value. Myfitnesspal just gives you recommendations on how many grams of all those things you should eat. I'm currently less than 5 pounds more than my wedding weight, and in June of 2009 I was 47 pounds higher than my wedding weight (and only 5 pounds less than that when you last saw me in Florida). I lose weight very slowly because I refuse to behave differently than I intend to do for the rest of my life (like excessive calorie cutting, depriving myself of the foods I love, exercising several hours a day, etc). But the good news is since I started tracking regularly and weighing my food, I really don't gain much weight either. My problem in the past has been losing weight by eating about 1200 calories a day, feeling constantly hungry, and then gaining the weight back due to binge eating. Now even when I do overeat, logging in my calories regularly helps prevent my splurging from getting horrendously out of control. This was the first Christmas season I used it, and in 5 weeks I actually lost 3 and 1/2 pounds. That included a LOT of holiday eating and treats.
